To all readers, this post is going to be short and crisp as compared to my previous posts because my visit to Seattle was only for 1 night and it can be described as serendipity. Initially it was not there in my plan, nevertheless I amended my bookings to suit my fancy and on my way back from Alaska I had a quick pit stop in Seattle. It did occur to me that it will be a swift visit and won’t be able to see much but I decided to go for it. I can’t call Seattle a city because it is really small in size; what add to the charm are its neighboring towns like Kirkland, Bothell etc. Seattle is known to be home for some of the major thriving tech companies like Microsoft, Amazon etc. But from my perspective, it is the most liberal town I have ever visited especially with respect to LGBT community. It could be because it’s mayor belongs to that community or it has 2nd largest community in United States and one can easily see that if they pay their visit to Capitol Hill. I mean the vibe which you get from people is all together on a different level. How can we forget about city’s hilly terrain landscape with gloomy climatic conditions, but fun fact is Seattle receives less amount of rain than Houston or NYC annually. It is beautiful in every possible way i.e. people, culture, parkland, seafood, sea-planes, Mt. Rainier and so many things to put in the list. Most importantly city has given us the biggest coffee chain in the history i.e. Starbucks; Yes, the year was 1971 when first Starbucks was introduced in Seattle.
One of my very dear friends was really accommodating for letting me stay at his place and picking me up from airport at 6 AM. Morning view was dreamlike, as due to clear condition I was able to see Mt. Rainier. After unwinding for a while, we decided to have brunch in one of the Indian restaurants near Kirkland and continued our conversation about the city over coffee. Unwittingly, it was 4th of July and Seattle always has fireworks by the bay, which will leave you awestruck. Next day before I boarded my flight we decided to go to Public market that is the oldest farmer’s market in states, downtown, space needle and EMP museum.
All in all, my swift visit did satiate me with a short glimpse of such an iconic city.
